Mrs. Ippolito Receives Horace Mann Crystal Apple Award

May 11, 2017

Horace Mann and South Fork School district have developed a working relationship that centers around student growth.  The two organizations work hard to develop programs and supports.  You as students are why each and every one of the adults are here today.  Everything we do in our professions are to help you gain skills and character that will help you later in life.  We at Horace Mann are privileged to work with you at South Fork.

One of the things we at Horace Mann do in partnership with local school districts is honor outstanding faculty members that go above and beyond the call of duty.    Each year the district picks one educator who has made a tremendous difference in not only the school as a whole, but has taken the time to help the needs of individuals as well.  This award is known as the Horace Mann Crystal Apple.

This year’s recipient of the Crystal Apple Award is a well deserving educator.  She has taken it upon herself to go above and beyond to make sure every student is successful.  She is a person who cares.  She takes time away from her amazing family to work with students after hours.  Not only has she devoted her time to help students, she has also become a leader among teachers.  Her commitment is shown through the number of committees she is on.  She serves as Co-Union President as well as a member on both the PBIS and School Improvement Team.

As one colleague stated, "She is a real team player and always has the best interests of the students, and the school, at heart.  I enjoy working with her as a team member because she is always pushing me to try new ideas and challenges me to always strive to do more.  She is always developing fresh and exciting new ideas for our school to promote pony pride."

She is truly a special educator that leads by example and sets the bar high for the rest of us in education.  She is not only a role model for students; she is someone we all could learn from.

It is with great pleasure that I announce Mrs. Jennifer Ippolito as this year's recipient of the Horace Mann Crystal Apple Award.  Congratulations on all of your accomplishments and continued great work in the field of education.  You change lives and make a difference, and that is something special.
